Sickness while unemployed

If you become ill while unemployed, you must call in sick on jobnet.dk. While you are ill, you can either claim unemployement benefits from CA or sickness benefits from your municipality.

If you become ill, you must call in sick from the very first day using ‘Min side’ on jobnet.dk. You must call in sick even for a single day’s illness.

When you register as sick on jobnet.dk, CA will automatically be notified. There is no need to inform us.

When you get well again, you must immediately report fit for work on ’Min side’ on jobnet.dk. You will then again receive benefits from the unemployment fund.

While you are sick, you will receive either benefits from CA or sickness benefits from your municipality, depending on whether you are full-time or part-time unemployed:

Full-time unemployed

If you are full-time unemployed, you can get benefits from CA for the first 14 sick days. If you have not recovered after 14 days, you will then receive sickness benefits from your municipality.

Your municipality will send you an application form for sickness benefits, which you must return no later than 8 days after it was sent to you. If you do not receive the application automatically, you must contact your municipality no later than 5 weeks after your first sick day to claim sickness benefits.

Part-time unemployed

If you work part-time and receive supplementary benefits, you cannot claim benefits from CA while sick. Instead you can claim sickness benefits from the municipality for the entire duration of your illness.

Your municipality will send you an application form for sickness benefits, which you must return no later than 8 days after it was sent to you. If you do not receive the application automatically, you must contact your municipality no later than 3 weeks after your first sick day to claim sickness benefits.

Receiving wage subsidy or in job rotation

If your job is a wage subsidy job or a rotation job, only your employer needs to be notified of sickness. You are entitled to either sickness pay or sickness benefits according to the rules for employees.

Report sick immediately

You can receive benefits or sickness benefits only when you have notified jobnet.dk. You should do this on your first sick day.

When you get well again

When you get well and are fit for work again, you must report this to jobnet.dk to receive benefits from us after the period of receiving sickness benefits. You must also submit a statement on your absence (in Danish) to us .

Reporting sick and abscense from meetings with the jobcenter and with CA

When you have called in sick, you will be not called to obligatory meetings or other meetings at the job centre, CA or any secondary operator.

However, unless you have given advance notice of sickness, you cannot stay away from a meeting.
